Metamora is unlike anywhere else we work. Barns and Stables
An uninsulated steel barn in Michigan does something specific and unpleasant every winter: warm, moist air from horses, bedding and equipment rises, hits the cold underside of the roof panel, condenses, and drips. Owners describe it as a leaking roof. It is not. It is dew point.
Closed-cell foam sprayed directly to the underside of the panel removes the cold surface from the equation and seals every lap and fastener in the process. For stables that means a dry aisle, dry bedding, and less corrosion on everything metal in the building. It also means the space can actually be heated if you want it to be.

Old Houses, Handled Carefully
The residential side of Metamora is largely pre-1940 farmhouses and estate homes, many of them restored. Those buildings were designed to dry in both directions, and the wrong insulation strategy in the wrong assembly can trap moisture where it does damage. We plan around that: air sealing and insulating at the attic plane and the foundation perimeter, where the gains are largest and the moisture risk is lowest, and being deliberate about anything applied inside a historic wall. It is a conversation we have at the estimate rather than a decision we make on the truck.

Metamora FAQs
Do you insulate horse barns and stables?
Yes. Metamora is horse country and stable work has its own considerations — you want condensation controlled so it is not raining on the aisle in January, you want the ceiling surface durable, and you do not want a material that rodents will nest in the way they do with fiberglass. Closed-cell foam addresses all three. We can also apply a protective coating over the foam where the application calls for it.
Can you insulate an old estate home or historic farmhouse without damaging it?
Yes. Everything we do is inside — attic floors, roof decks, rim joists, foundation walls, knee walls. Nothing changes the exterior. On genuinely historic homes we are careful about moisture: an old house was built to dry in both directions, and we plan the assembly so it still can. That conversation happens at the estimate, not afterward.
